The Forgotten Godwar Circuit : Abu-Road, Mount-Abu-Sirohi, Pali-Jalore

Mount Abu is a beautiful and only hill station in Rajasthan. It is one of the most popular retreats for vacationers and even honeymoon couples. With a distinctive blend of the flavours of Rajasthan, Mount Abu has some of the best places to visit like Dilwara Jain Temples, Nakki Lake, Achal Garh, Adhar Devi, Sunset Point, Trevor’s crocodile Park, Wildlife Sanctuary, Gaumukh and Guru Shikhar. Guru Shikhar is located at an altitude of 5676 feet, this is the highest peak in Rajasthan.

Nakki Lake

The beautiful Nakki lake is surrounded by hills on all sides and boating here is a blissful experience. This is the only artificial lake in India to be created at a height of more than 1200m from sea level.

Guru Shikhar

Guru Shikhar is the highest peak of the Aravalli Range and lies about 15 kilometres from Mount Abu. The height of the peak is 1722 meters from sea level thereby promising a breathtaking view of the Aravalli range and the hill station of Mount Abu. The trek to the top of the mountain is adventurous and fun.

Ambaji Temple

This is the principal shrine of a goddess who has been worshiped since the pre-Vedic period. She is often referred to as Arasuri Amba, named for the location of the temple in the Arasur hills, near the source of the Saraswati river at the south-western end of the Aravali mountain range. Be sure to look across the temple (i.e. with your back facing the goddess) at the other temple on the Gabbar, considered the original abode of the goddess.

Chandravati

Popularly known as Chandroti, is a village situated near Abu Road on the bank of the West Banas River. In ancient times it was an extensive town, and present villages such as Dattani, Kiverli, Kharadi and Santpura were its suburb. It was the well-known capital of the Arbud branch of the Parmaras. Ruins indicating forty five enclosures related to the ancient township had been found at the site. The architecture style, shape and quality of the construction material relates the civilization as old as that of Harrapan times.

Wildlife Sanctuary

The breathtaking Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary boasts of rich biodiversity which adds it to the list of must-visit places in the tiny hamlet. The sanctuary is one of the oldest parts of the Mount Abu mountain ranges and is the origin of numerous sightseeing points with exquisite views. It was given the status of a wildlife sanctuary in 1960 to preserve flora and fauna of the entire region and is, therefore, an important eco-tourism spot. It is the perfect place if you wish to witness the best of wildlife in Rajasthan in their natural habitat combined with a thrilling experience.

Achal Garh

Achal garh village is a picturesque village in Mount Abu which is famous for the Achalgarh fort and Achleshwar temple. The fortress Achalgarh is situated at the top of a mountain peak.

The Sunset point

The sunset point The sunset point has a pleasant climate throughout the year. While nature lovers can sprawl in the last rays of the sun. One will easily be in awe of the setting magic of the coloured sky in hues of red and orange, contrary to the greens Ranges. The climate makes it favourable to enjoy the sunset in peace without any hustle.

Dilwara Temples

Located amidst the lush green Aravalli hills of Mount Abu. The Dilwara temple is the most beautiful pilgrimage site for the Jains. Built by Vimal Shah between the 11th and 13th century, this temple is renowned for the opulent use of marble and intricate carvings on every hook and corner. Once you enter the inside, you will go head over heels with the stunning designs and patterns carved on roofs, walls, archways and pillars.

Toad Rock

Toad Rock is Known as The mascot of Mount Abu, Toad Rock is one of the most frequented point in the itinerary of all visitors. To see the panoramic beauty of the surrounding lake and greenish hilly regions you can climb up the rock and capture the breathtaking scenery.

Raghunath Temple

The locals hold faith in Lord Raghunath to whom this temple is dedicated. Located close to the Nakki Lake this is a major religious attraction for tourists. The pilgrim is apparently relieved of all pains and pangs after a visit to this temple.
